Where to begin? I'm a student at University of Manchester currently doing a degree in German and Russian, and this blog is here because the 3rd year of said degree is spent abroad. In my case, I will spend my first semester in Tver' (or Тверь if you're a cyrillicist) and the second in St Petersburg (Санкт Петербург). I will then spend the summer in some kind of German-speaking place, though I haven't planned that yet...Probably ought to get on with that, really...Huh...
Since I only started learning Russian at University, I shall be studying at the Universities of these two towns, which suits me fine. I'm barely ready for the world of work in England, let alone Russia! Hopefully, over the course of this year, I shall:
- Learn enough Russian to read some amazing russkaya literatura and be able to talk to Russians without acting like a complete dummy (maybe asking a bit much there...)
- Meet some awesome Russian people, such as (name here), (name here) and, of course, (name here)!
- Experience Russian culture and landmarks from within, not just pictures and books and such.
As for what I enjoy: Video Games, books, anime, things of that ilk, though I don't imagine they'll be brought up especially often, just thought I'd mention them in passing. I make "Let's Plays", which basically means I play games and say (hopefully entertaining/informative) things as I go along. That can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/user/skullkid3
I think that's about it, thanks for visiting, and have a nice day!
Joe
